Apollo Tyres will come up with a purified drinking water project to provide clean drinking water to more than 5,000 villagers around its Oragadam facility in Chennai. The company had conducted a study that indicated water quality concerns and incidence of water-borne diseases in the area.
The project will have a ten-stage filtration and treatment process with a capacity of 1,000 litre per hour. This reverse osmosis-based purified water station would provide clean drinking water to the residents of Sennakuppam, Oragadam and Vadagupattu villages. The drinking water provided through this project would be of very high quality and would be available at a very nominal price that is affordable to all.
One of the key elements of this project would be to provide superior service and frequent quality checks to ensure that the purity of water is consistent throughout the life of the project.
The project will be run and managed by the local village panchayat, while the implementing partner, Waterlife, would be responsible for the maintenance of the equipment.
