Australia’s Arvensis Group has announced its plans to establish a compressed biogas (CBG) plant in Andhra Pradesh, with an estimated investment of Rs 150 crore. The announcement was made during a meeting held on 01 May, 2025 in Tadepalli with Andhra Pradesh Energy Minister, Gottipati Ravi Kumar.
The proposed facility will have a capacity ranging from 12 to 20 tonne per day and marks a significant step towards expanding renewable energy infrastructure in the state. Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar welcomed the investment, underlining Andhra Pradesh's vast renewable energy potential and reaffirming the state government's commitment to supporting clean energy projects. He assured the investors that all necessary approvals would be facilitated swiftly through a single-window clearance system.
“The State’s vast potential for renewable energy projects will be backed by comprehensive government support,” he said. Arvensis Group representatives expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the discussions and confirmed their intention to begin with the CBG plant as their initial project in the region. They emphasised their long-term commitment to contributing to India’s renewable energy goals, starting with Andhra Pradesh.
The project would help generate both direct and indirect employment opportunities for the local youth and appreciated the company's decision to invest in the state’s energy sector. The move aligns with Andhra Pradesh's broader goals of becoming a hub for sustainable energy and green industry. The plant, once operational, is expected to strengthen the region's bio-energy infrastructure and support the state’s transition towards cleaner fuels.
