Avenue Supermarts, operator of DMart, plans to accelerate store expansion with a sharper focus on north India, targeting smaller cities for better ROI at lower capital costs.
CEO Neville Noronha will personally oversee the north India rollout for six months until his term ends in January. To fund growth, the company may raise debt and aims for a 20 percent store count increase, with a long-term goal of 1,800–1,900 outlets.
DMart will avoid entering quick commerce, instead prioritising operational scale over immediate profitability. Its DMart Ready e-commerce arm targets double-digit growth, faster deliveries under six hours, and deeper penetration in existing markets rather than new city launches.
