Bharat Heavy Electricals has been awarded the EPC
contract for the 192 MW Allain Duhangan hydropower project near Manali in
Himachal Pradesh. Malana Power Company Ltd -- an LNJ Bhilwara Group company -- is
implementing the project.
BHEL's scope of work in the present contract
envisages design, manufacture, supply, erection & commissioning of two
state-of-the-art high-head Pelton hydro turbines of 96 MW each with matching
generators, digital governors and microprocessor-based control and monitoring
system, besides associated auxiliaries. While the hydro sets will be
manufactured at BHEL's Bhopal plant, the controls will be supplied by the
company's Electronics Division, Bangalore. BHEL's Power Sector Northern Region
will undertake the execution on site.
BHEL won the order amidst international
competition. The project is expected to be commissioned within 30 months.
Earlier, for the same customer, BHEL had
supplied, erected & commissioned generating equipment for their 2x6.75 MW
Tawa HEP in Madhya Pradesh and that project was commissioned in a record 24
months.
