Bharat Heavy Electricals has bagged an order
worth Rs.800 crore from National Aluminium Co for the expansion of its captive
power plant at Angul in Orissa.
Work on the project includes manufacture, supply,
erection and commissioning of two steam turbine generator sets of 120 MW each
with matching pulverised fuel fired boilers, generator transformers, associated
auxiliaries, and state-of-the-art unified controls and instrumentation (C&I)
system.
BHEL will commission the Units 9 and 10, of 120
MW each, in a period of 29 months. With the completion of the project, the
installed capacity of the plant will go up to 1,200 MW.
The power plants will support Nalco's Rs.4,000
crore project of doubling smelting capacity to 4.6 lakh tpa. Current capacity
stands at around 3.5 lakh tpa.
