Bharat Sanchar Nigam will pump
Rs.60,000 crore for a period of three years by investing Rs.20,000 crore in each
year.
This move comes on the back of BSNL's
ambitious revenue expansion targets from Rs.39,000 crore in 2005-06 to Rs.90,000
crore by 2010-11. To achieve the target, BSNL has firmed up plans to add 108
million additional mobile connections to its existing base of 25.4 million by
2010. The company also intends to offer about 3 million new GSM connections
every month.
Accordingly. the company is in the
process of placing orders for equipment required to ramp up its facilities to
handle additional voice traffic that is expected to be generated.
