Balrampur Chini Mills has planned to acquire one
of Dhampur Sugar Mills' sugar unit for a consideration of Rs.182 crore.
BCML will acquire the Rauzagaon unit in Uttar
Pradesh that has a cane crushing capacity of 7,500 tccpd and a 12 MW
cogeneration power plant.
BCML is already in the midst of a Rs.300 crore
expansion programme that would take its existing capacity of 29,000 tccpd to
40,000 tccpd by November/December 2005 and further to 47,000 tccpd by November
2006.
The acquisition will enhance BCML's current
capacity to 36,500 tccpd. By November 2006, the sugar major would have a
capacity of 54,500 tccpd.
