Bengaluru’s wastewater management system is set to receive a significant boost with the involvement of Swiss start-ups, who are interested in piloting advanced treatment technologies at the city’s sewage treatment plants (STPs).
This initiative is part of the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB)'s efforts to embrace innovative and sustainable water and wastewater solutions. Several Swiss start-ups are eager to test their technologies within BWSSB’s infrastructure on a pilot basis. The move follows a recent videoconference between BWSSB Chairman V Ram Prasath Manohar and Angela Honegger, CEO of Swissnex India. As part of the new scheme, start-ups will have the opportunity to deploy proof-of-concept models and assess their viability in real-world conditions.
Chairman Manohar emphasised the potential of this collaboration, stating, “We welcome that Swiss universities and startups are coming forward to invest in technology in our sewage treatment plants.”
