The Bihar Electricity Regulatory Commission (BERC) has approved a proposal by Bihar State Power Generation Company (BSPGCL), and Bihar State Power Holding Company (BSPHCL) to procure 144.27 MW of solar power under the PMKUSUM Component-C program.
This program aims to solarise agricultural feeders for a period of 25 years. The Commission also approved the discovered tariffs, ranging from Rs 3.30/kWh to Rs 3.48 /kWh, along with the draft power purchase agreement (PPA). The petition follows the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy’s (MNRE) approval on November 14, 2025, to increase the solarisation of grid-connected agricultural pumps in Bihar, from 90,000 to 140,300.
BSPGCL had earlier floated a tender to solarize 3,188 agricultural and mixed feeders, totalling 1,205.79 MW for a 25-year term. To qualify for Central Financial Assistance, BSPGCL must secure signed PPAs by 31 December, 2025.
