On 05 August 2025, the Bihar Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, approved 36 proposals including the creation of a new industrial corridor in Bhagalpur and an industrial area in Gopalganj.
The Bhagalpur corridor will involve acquisition of 97 acres, with 96.89 acres of government land to be transferred to the Industries Department. Gopalganj's 32.66-acre project will be developed by BIADA using land from two Vijayapur block villages. Industrial areas in Aurangabad, Katihar, Nalanda, Muzaffarpur, and Supaul will be expanded by 2,417 acres at a cost of Rs 1,038 crore.
Additionally, a planned solar project in Pirpainti will be replaced by a thermal power project (3x800 MW) on a 33-year lease. Several appointments and departmental restructurings were also cleared.
