The Bihar government has stepped up its commitment to building comprehensive sports infrastructure from the district level down to the panchayat level in Siwan, according to District Magistrate (DM) Mukul Kumar Gupta. He stated that projects such as sports complexes, gyms, open gyms, indoor stadiums, and the appointment of sports coaches are underway, ensuring significant benefits for future generations.
Extensive development efforts are progressing rapidly across the district. At the panchayat level, construction of sports grounds equipped with basketball, volleyball, and badminton courts, as well as running tracks, is ongoing. At the block level, several stadiums are in various stages of completion, with three already finished. At the district level, three new multi-purpose halls will be built in Jiradei's Bhainsa Khal, Srinagar Colony, and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya. Additionally, an international-level swimming pool costing eight crores is planned for Bhainsakhal, with the tendering process now in its final stages.
The DM emphasised that "these developments will provide district-level athletes with national and international-level facilities." The Bihar government’s 'Medal Lao Naukri Pao' (Bring a Medal, Get a Job) initiative, along with the 'Khelo India' scheme—offering annual incentives of Rs five lakh to athletes who excel at the national level—are actively enhancing the morale of athletes and supporting their professional growth.
Through these strategic initiatives, the government aims to create a robust sports ecosystem that nurtures talent, offers world-class facilities at grassroots levels, and motivates athletes to perform at higher competitive levels, contributing to Bihar’s emergence on the national sports stage.
