Canada-based BlackBerry will set up an engineering centre for the Internet of Things (IoT) in Hyderabad, which is slated to be positioned as its second-largest IoT division globally, after Canada.
The announcement was made ahead of the company's annual TechForum India event to be held in Bangalore, on 29 March, 2023.
The expansion of BlackBerry IoT's global software innovation network will cater to both its customer base and partners and sustain its growth, especially in the automotive sector.
The engineering centre will focus on building the next generation of software-defined-vehicles (SDVs), and creating innovations in other IoT industries. It will utilise core technologies, which include in-vehicle software platform BlackBerry IVY and QNX product portfolio for systems development.
It will house a team of over 100 software engineers with requisite skill-sets to fulfil various positions in senior management, technical project management, cloud software development, integration and service delivery.
BlackBerry IVY software development is planned to be rolled out in the latter part of 2023.
