The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC), in an order dated 24 October, 2025, has granted a 25-year transmission licence to WRNES Talegaon Power Transmission, a subsidiary of Adani Energy Solutions (AESL).
The licence, linked to an interstate transmission system (ISTS) scheme, will remain in effect unless revoked earlier. AESL won the project under the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) route, with a bid of Rs. 2214.45 million per year. The estimated cost of the project, “Network expansion scheme in Western Region to cater to pumped storage potential near Talegaon (Pune),” is Rs. 1,663 crore, with completion scheduled for 01 January, 2028.
The scheme involves building a 765/400kV substation in Maharashtra, which will be key to transmitting green energy to the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).
