The Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) has approved an investment of Rs 904 crore to upgrade basic infrastructure in Amaravati’s 29 villages, focusing on drains, water supply, and essential facilities.
Chairing the 51st CRDA meeting, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu directed officials to design an iconic bridge across the Krishna river, drawing inspiration from Kuchipudi dance. The authority cleared nine proposals, including the creation of a special purpose vehicle (SPV) to execute major projects such as a greenfield airport, NTR statue, sports city, smart industries, riverfront development, inner ring road, and a ropeway.
CM Naidu stressed that all works should proceed on a war footing, with real-time updates uploaded online. He called for international standards in projects under the SPV, seamless integration of riverfront, road, and ropeway plans, and establishment of only pollution-free industries.
The meeting approved a Rs 411 crore sewage treatment plant, a Rs 376.6 crore water distribution centre, removal of “assigned” from land pooling certificates, 100 acres each for VIT and SRM universities, and a “Gold Cluster” gems and jewellery park at Mangalagiri.
