The Centre has approved the construction of AIIMS in Darbhanga district of Bihar. The state government is expediting the land transfer process, with the aim to advance healthcare infrastructure. This development is expected to create significant employment opportunities, and aid growth in the region.
The state government has directed officials to expedite the transfer of land to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Bihar Health Minister Mangal Pandey highlighted the importance of this project and the rapid development of medical infrastructure, taking note of the Centre's letter dated 25 July which confirmed the site's feasibility and detailed the requirements for electricity, road connectivity, and water supply.
A new 2,500-bed hospital at Darbhanga Medical College is also planned, expanding the region's medical facilities.
