The Chhattisgarh government has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Telangana-based Continental Hospitals to operate a 240-bed super specialty hospital in Jagdalpur, the headquarters of Bastar district.
The initiative, part of the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY), aims to boost advanced healthcare access in the tribal-dominated region. The MoU was signed by the Department of Medical Education and Continental Hospitals in the presence of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal at Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhawan.
Health Secretary Amit Kataria stated the project cost Rs 200 crore, with Rs 120 crore funded by the Central government and Rs 80 crore by the state. The National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) also played a vital role in supporting the hospital. Spread across 11 acres, the 10-storey facility will feature state-of-the-art equipment, OPD, ICU, emergency services, and advanced intensive care units. Departments include cardiology, nephrology, urology, gastroenterology, neurology, and neurosurgery. Services will be offered at affordable government rates by a team of specialist doctors.
