The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) recently reviewed the progress of the T2 Phase II expansion at Chennai International Airport, aiming to increase passenger capacity to 35 million annually.
The expansion project, covering 86,135 sq. meters, is designed to enhance passenger movement, improve accessibility, and accommodate the growing air traffic in the region. MoCA Secretary Samir Kumar Sinha emphasised the importance of completing the national project within the set timelines. He instructed the Airports Authority of India (AAI), L&T, and the project management consultant (PMC) to resolve any pending issues swiftly to ensure the timely completion of the expansion. "Projects of national importance must be completed without delays," he stated during the review meeting.
The expansion will not only boost the airport's capacity but also enhance the overall travel experience, catering to the rising demand for air travel in the region.
