The Telangana state government, along with the Defence Ministry and the Airports Authority of India (AAI), is moving forward with the proposed Adilabad airport project.
As part of this initiative, officials are set to begin land mapping, which will form the basis for the preparation of the detailed project report (DPR) and land acquisition. The mapping process will assess various factors such as residential areas, agricultural land, high-tension electricity towers, and land availability. The airport is planned to be a multi-operational facility, supporting cargo services, IAF training, and civil aviation operations.
BJP MP Godam Nagesh emphasised the importance of land acquisition, noting that it will take time due to the need for farmer cooperation and finalising compensation rates. He expressed confidence in its progress with the support of Union Minister G Kishan Reddy. The final decision on infrastructure components like terminals and runways will be made by AAI.
