Cochin Shipyard (CSL) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with HD Korea Shipbuilding and Offshore Engineering (KSOE) — a subsidiary of HD Hyundai, one of the world’s largest shipbuilders on 04 July, 2025. The partnership lays the foundation for long-term collaboration in shipbuilding and maritime development.
The MoU encompasses a range of objectives, including joint exploration of shipbuilding opportunities in India and abroad, technical knowledge sharing, enhancement of productivity and capacity utilisation, and workforce upskilling. KSOE’s global experience in constructing commercial vessels, naval platforms, and offshore infrastructure, backed by its operations through Hyundai Heavy Industries, Hyundai Mipo Dockyard, and Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries, is expected to benefit CSL significantly.
CSL will gain from Korean shipbuilding techniques, as KSOE taps into India’s fast-growing economy. Earlier in May 2025, CSL had signed an MoU with Drydocks World, a DP World subsidiary, to develop a ship repair and offshore fabrication hub in Kochi.
