Copeland has completed the first phase of its Rs 500 crore expansion at its Atit manufacturing facility near Pune.
This phase marks the localisation of scroll hermetic compressor manufacturing, with Copeland now being the only company to produce scroll compressors in India. The milestone was celebrated with the delivery of the first batch of 5 HP scroll compressors produced at the facility. The company highlighted that this expansion strengthens its local manufacturing and supply capabilities.
The Atit plant manufactures compressors, condensing units, and heat pumps, serving industries such as railways, metro systems, and electric buses. Over the last two years, the site has added over 350 new products, including refrigerant-compatible compressors for low global warming potential options like R-32 and R-290. Jagadish Keswani, President for India, the Middle East, and Africa at Copeland, stated, “India has become a key part of our global manufacturing strategy. The focus on localisation and refrigerant technology supports customer demand and enhances supply chain resilience.”
