Kirloskar Brothers (KBL), a pioneer in fluid management solutions, has inaugurated a new factory building at its Kaniyur manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu, marking a century since the company produced India’s first centrifugal pump in 1926.
The new facility is aimed at boosting productivity and operational efficiency, enabling KBL to meet rising domestic and international demand while upholding its high-quality standards. A key feature of the expansion is its sustainability focus. Around 80 percent of the facility’s electricity needs are met through renewable energy, helping reduce carbon emissions by 122.5 tCO2e and cutting Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 89%. The solar installation is also expected to generate annual savings of approximately INR 21.64 lakh.
This expansion comes alongside KBL’s recent order to supply 14,000 pumps for petroleum applications, including ATEX-certified submersible turbine pumps, positioning the company to compete directly with global players in the retail petroleum market.
