CtrlS Datacenters will invest Rs 4,000 crore in the Chennai Datacentre Park, across phases. This is the fifth hyperscale datacentre campus in India for the rated-4 datacenter operator, has unveiled its upcoming datacenter park in Chennai. following Mumbai, Hyderabad, Noida, and Bangalore.
The company is expected to create about direct jobs for 500 people and will assist in generating employment indirectly for 9,000 persons. Located in the Ambattur industrial area, the campus will include two datacentre buildings, with a combined built-up area of one million sq. ft., and a 72 MW IT load capacity.
The CtrlS Chennai DC Campus boasts advanced features such as a 230 kV on-campus gas-insulated substation (GIS), AI-Ready with advanced cooling technologies, earthquake-resistant, and flood-proof as it is positioned 14 mtrs. above sea level.
The first datacentre building (Chennai DC 1), which is fully booked will begin operations in the second quarter of 2024. The second datacentre building (Chennai DC 2) is slated to be launched in the H1/2024, and is accepting bookings. Chennai DC 2 is a ground plus 10-floor structure, with an IT load of 27 MW.
Chennai holds strategic significance because of the large number of subsea cable landing stations, along with the presence of enterprises and cloud service providers in the region. With the government's plans for knowledge-based industries and emphasis on digital transformation, CtrlS Datacenters will contribute to Chennai's dynamic digital landscape with its upcoming datacentre campus. Tamil Nadu government has been extending all the necessary support to create a conducive environment.
