The DMRC is giving final touches to the draft DPR for metro rail project in Chandigarh.
The agency has been working on the exact alignments of the two corridors planned in the Phase I of the project, besides suggesting a financial model for the project to make it viable. A SPV is likely to be set up to run the metro operations.
The Planning Commission will take a final decision on whether the Central Government would fund the project for Chandigarh only on the basis of the DPR. After the document is ready it would also be discussed with Punjab and Haryana Government to seek their financial contributions.
