The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has entered into a partnership with Häfele India through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed on 07 May, 2025 in New Delhi. The collaboration seeks to strengthen India’s manufacturing ecosystem, enhance product innovation, and accelerate integration of Indian businesses into global value chains.
The MoU will remain effective for two years, with options for extension by mutual agreement. The agreement is a key initiative in support of the government’s broader ‘Make in India’ vision to transform the country into a global manufacturing hub. It targets innovation-led growth among startups, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and entrepreneurs by enabling access to mentorship, targeted investments, and international markets.
Häfele India, as part of the MoU, has committed to facilitating growth through specific support measures. The company has already invested over USD 2.5 million in an Indian appliance manufacturing startup and issued purchase orders to Indian MSMEs manufacturing architectural hardware and furniture fittings. These actions aim to enhance local sourcing and empower domestic manufacturers by opening avenues for them to become part of global supply chains.
DPIIT, through its flagship Startup India initiative, will provide critical ecosystem support. This includes enabling access to co-branded initiatives, specialised programmes, and networking opportunities for entrepreneurs and startups. The collaboration will thus function as a catalyst for cross-sectoral engagement, industry readiness, and scalable innovation.
