SINGER India has announced plans to begin local manufacturing of Auto Zig Zag sewing machines, following a licensing agreement with SINGER Sourcing (SVP Worldwide).
This move aligns with India's "Atmanirbhar Bharat" and "Make in India" initiatives, aimed at boosting domestic manufacturing and innovation. The company will produce sewing machines under the SINGER and MERRITT brands, with an eye on cost competitiveness and high-quality standards. The machines will also be eligible for export to international markets. Production will begin at SINGER India's Jammu facility, with plans for a new manufacturing plant in the next six to 12 months.
These machines will carry the mandatory BIS certification, ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards. This collaboration reinforces SINGER's long-standing commitment to India, which has been a key part of its 155-year presence in the country.
