Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated the Titanium and Superalloy Materials Plant at PTC Industries’ Strategic Materials Technology Complex in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh on 18 October, 2025, marking a significant step toward India’s self-reliance in defence and aerospace materials.
The inauguration included an MoU between PTC Industries and Bharat Dynamics to jointly develop propulsion systems, guided bombs, and small aero-engines for missiles, UAVs, and loitering munitions. The initiative represents a shift from “Make-in-India” to “Design, Develop and Deliver in India.” Highlighting the importance of rare materials, Defence Minister emphasised that India can now manufacture components for fighter jets, missiles, naval systems, and satellites, reducing dependency on other nations. He noted that the Strategic Materials Technology Complex will create direct and indirect employment, connect start-ups and MSMEs, and enhance Uttar Pradesh’s industrial landscape.
The plant, one of the first private-sector units producing aero-engine and superalloy components, aligns with the vision of Atma Nirbhar Bharat and strengthens technological sovereignty.
