Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is in the process to plan design for the
proposed stations on the Metro Phase III. In October 2010, the Delhi Government
approved the Metro Phase III project.
DMRC has begun preliminary work like soil testing and planning the design of
upcoming stations. Currently, it is studying the suggestion made by the
Transport Department, Delhi, on the six corridors of the Phase III. If the
changes proposed by the Transport Department are incorporated, then the total
length of lines in the Phase III will increase to 108 km from the proposed
69.57km.
Also, the Transport Department has suggested that a Metro link between Dhaula
Kuan and Rajouri Garden be created. The two areas fall in the proposed line 1
and line 2 of Phase III respectively, and connecting the two areas will mean an
addition of 8.3-km of tracks.
For line 3, a different route has been proposed in place of DMRC's Malviya
Nagar-Kalindi Kunj-Noida Sector 18 plan. Instead, the Transport Department has
asked DMRC to look into the possibility of a line that will touch Noida Sector
18, Okhla, Janakpuri and Sanjay Gandhi Transport Nagar. The total length of this
will be 44.85-km.
