Around 20 companies, mostly sugar distilleries, have applied for permission of licences to manufacture hand sanitisers, amid Corona virus outbreak.
The demand for hand sanitisers has increased and the Uttar Pradesh sugar and excise department has been working to ease its norms so that more and more companies are able to produce the product.
While state distilleries have been roped in to manufacture hand sanitisers, cosmetic companies, which already have the licence from the drugs department, have been allowed to manufacture sanitisers after receiving clearances from the excise department.
These 21 companies will be manufacturing around 50,000 ltr of hand sanitisers per day.
The companies, namely Modi Beauty Products, known for Revlon brand of cosmetics, is producing 4,000 ltr of hand sanitisers in three shifts per day, and Balrampur Chini Mills is producing 5,000 litre per day.
The process of granting permission to other companies is underway, and soon, many other companies will begin production.
Apart from this, other companies that have sought permission are Dhampur Sugar Mills for 5,000 ltr per day, Uttam Sugar Mills for 5,000 ltr per day, Alcho Chemicals for 3,000 ltr per day, Awadh Sugar for 4,000 ltr per day, Dalmia Bharat Sugar for 2,000 ltr per day.
Moreover, other companies that have sought for permission are DCM Shriram, Daurala Sugar, Simbhaoli Sugar for 2,000 ltr per day each, KM Sugar Mill, Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar, Gobind Sugar, Seksaria Sugar for 1,000 ltr per day each, Meghdoot Gramudyog and Jubilant Life Sciences for 427 ltr per day each and Modi Chemicals for 200 ltr per day.
