As part of its plans to add an extra pair of tracks between Thane and Diva, the Mumbai Rail Vikas Corporation will be adding a new platform at Diva, so that both, fast and slow trains can halt at the station.
The new line on the west of platform number one at Diva is part of the Rs 135 crore fifth and sixth line project between Thane and Diva.
The line will face tough problems like a road overbridge that will have to be built over the highway. Also, Diva yard, a huge one, will have to remodelled. The tunnel under Parsik Hills, around 165 mtr long, is mostly complete, though track laying work is left.
The MRVC plans construction of a new line on the western side of line number one on the down local line, or the line on which trains will pass towards Kalyan and beyond.
