EID Parry (India) is planning to
set up its second cogeneration plant at Pagulur in Karur district
of Tamil Nadu. The power purchase agreement for the 22 MW unit,
costing Rs.77 crore, is likely to be signed with the Tamil Nadu
Electricity Board, soon.
The company is also planning to
set up a sugar refinery with a capacity of 30,000 tpa, costing
Rs.12 crore. Trial runs on this refinery are expected to begin by
September 2004.
It may be mentioned that EID Parry
supplies around 4 lakh tonnes of bagasse from its sugar mills at
Pagulur and Pettavaithalai in Trichy district of Tamil Nadu.
