Electronics
Corporation of Tamil Nadu Ltd (Elcot) is likely to float global tenders for
developing IT parks in various tier II cities of Tamil Nadu by December 2008.
Elcot will be
investing Rs.15 crore in each of these parks to create a 50,000 sq ft facility
of its own. The company has received the state government's approval for the
project and these park will be coming up in Sholinganallur, Coimbatore,
Tirunelveli, Madurai, Tirchy, Salem and Hosur. Construction work on these
projects is likely to begin by February 2009. Tenders are also being invited for
selecting a partner for creating social infrastructure in these parks on a PPP
basis.
Some of the details of
the projects are :

Infrastructure
development work at Ilandhaikulam and Vadapalanji IT parks in Madurai will
start on December 5, 2008. Of the 245.17 acre integrated IT campus at
Vadapalanji, Elcot will create social infrastructure on 50 acre through the
PPP model.

At Sholinganallur,
an extent of 377.08 acres is being developed as an IT SEZ.

In Coimbatore, SEZ
is being developed on 61.59 acre at Vilankurichi village. The total built- up
area is 4 million sq ft. The SEZ will have Tidel park, an Elcot-Tidco JV in
1.8 million sft, apart from housing facilities of Wipro, HCL and TCS.

At Vadapalanji,
major companies like HCL, Sutherland and Satyam will be developing their SEZ.

At Ilandhaikulam,
HCL, Honeywell, and Tessolve will set up their facilities in a 28.01acre SEZ.

At Gangaikondan
village in Tirunelveli district an IT SEZ will be developed on 500 acre.

At Hosur in
Krishnagiri district an IT SEZ will be developed on 174.47.

Work on Salem SEZ is
likely to begin soon after the resolution of a legal dispute.
