The Gujarat government has shorlisted
eleven companies for setting up a sea water desalination plant in the Kuchchh
region on a build-operate-transfer (BOT) basis. The shorlisted firms include
Reliance Industries, Adani, Doshion and French firm Swege Degromont.
The Rs.600 crore plant will have a
capacity to desalinate 150 million litres per day and will have its own
lignite-based power plant. The project will be a joint venture and will be
developed on a public private partnership model. A special purpose vehicle will
be implemented for setting up the project.
