Faiveley Transport has bagged a series of contracts in India from Alstom Transport.
The company will supply its braking systems, couplers, on-board doors and HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) for the Kochi metro project in Kerala.
The scope of supply includes the study, design, manufacture and delivery of equipment and involves many of the Group sites worldwide. Engineering will take place in Hosur (India), Shanghai (China) and Witten (Germany) with the support of the Group European Centres of Competence.
The contract value is more than 10 million Euro for the first 25 train sets, with a potential value of more than 20 million Euro if the option of a further 25 train sets is chosen. The delivery is expected to start this year and will be completed in 2017.
Kochi Metro will use 25 Alstom Transport’s Metropolis train sets and each train will be about 65 mtr long. It will comprise three cars, with a capacity to carry upto 975 passengers.
In 2011, Faiveley Transport signed a contract with Alstom Transport to supply braking systems, couplers and on-board door systems for the Chennai Metro. It is also a major equipment supplier to Delhi Metro, Bengaluru Metro and Hyderabad Metro.
