On November 15, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman inaugurated two projects under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) scheme in Nagaland— a multipurpose hall in Phek, and a guest house in Zunheboto.
The announcement was made during her visit to Chumoukedima, where she also held a review meeting with Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and other state officials. Sitharaman emphasized the Centre's commitment to accelerating infrastructure in underserved regions and improving local development indicators, particularly in Kiphire, an Aspirational District. She highlighted progress in health, education, and financial inclusion, noting a significant expansion of banking access across Nagaland.
Uniion Minister Sitharaman also reassured the public that quality monitoring for road projects has been tightened and solutions to post-monsoon road damage are being addressed. The Centre, she said, remains dedicated to supporting Nagaland’s infrastructure development through SASCI funding.
