Five Indian architecture companies have evinced interest in the Central government’s project to redevelop Parliament and three km long Central Vista. The Centre is likely to pick its consultant from these firms before 27 October 2019.
The Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs had sought bids from Indian and international design and architecture firms for its redevelopment of Parliament, the Central Vista and a common Central Secretariat for all Ministries on 2 September 2019. Six Indian firms had bid till 30 September 2019, the last day for bidding.
The five firms whose bids are being evaluated are CP Kukreja Architects, HCP Design, Planning and Management, Hafeez Contractor, Sikka Associates Architects and Arcop. HCP had carried out the development of the Sabarmati riverfront while CP Kukreja is involved with the Pragati Maidan redevelopment.
Hafeez Contractor’s past projects include modernisation of Mumbai and New Delhi airports and the Sikka Associates have carried out the Kolkata airport project. A new or revamped Parliament building will be in place by July 2022.
The Central Vista, complete with parking and public amenities, should be done by November 2020, and the common Central Secretariat by March 2024.
