The Calcutta Leather
Products and Footwear Park (CLPFP), a SPV floated by seven Kolkata-based
entrepreneurs is awaiting NOC from the State for its proposed footwear park
project.
The footwear park
spread over 100 acres of land will be coming up at Bantala Calcutta Leather
Complex. The park that entails an estimated investment of Rs.400 crore has already
received clearances from the industries department of West Bengal. Now, the
project is awaiting NOC from the State.
Of the total
investment of Rs.400 crore, around Rs.40 crore will be funded through the
Central government's infrastructure development fund for the sector and the rest
from internal accruals. This would be the third park of its kind after Chennai
and Agra.
The park in Kolkata is
expected to be operational by end-2009.
