On 22 September 2013, Sonia Gandhi, Congress President and UPA Chairperson, laid the foundation stone for the Chambal-Bhilwara water supply project in Rajasthan.
The project, estimated to cost Rs 2,200 crore, is being implemented by Rajasthan Public Health Engineering department in two phases.
Recently, the Rajasthan Public Health Engineering department awarded an order worth Rs 250 crore to IVRCL for Phase-II of the Chambal-Bhilwara water supply project on a turnkey basis. The scope of the order involves work of a cluster scheme of 205 villages of Asind tehsil along with augmentation of urban water supply scheme (UWSS) in Asind town.
A similar order has been awarded to Pratibha Industries. The scope of the order involves implementation of a water supply project in 326 villages of Bhilwara, Raipur and Shara Tehsil, and 151 villages of Banera and Hurda Tehsil, along with augmentation of urban water supply scheme of Gangapur town from Kisnawato ki khedi headwork.
