Rajasthan Chief Minister, Vasundhara
Raje , laid the foundation stone for the Jaipur campus of Manipal University, at
Dahmi Kalan village, on 30 September 2008 . The project spread over 100 acre,
will be developed in phased manner.
In the first phase, the campus will
have an engineering college, a banking and financial services academy and a
management institute and will sponsor domain competency development programmes
as well as the collaborative research and development activities. The campus
will also house the facilities such as academic complexes, research centres,
student housing, faculty amenities and sports facilities.
The varsity proposes to establish a
world-class campus and later expand it to have multiple disciplines, research
initiatives and corporate outreach programmes in Jaipur campus. The campus is
aiming at developing human capital to serve local and regional industries. The
university's first campus in North India will start in the academic year 2009.
