Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has initiated the construction of an LPG gas storage facility in Tirumala to secure its future fuel requirements.
On 16 July, 2025, TTD Chairman BR Naidu laid the foundation stone for the project, which will be developed jointly by TTD and Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL). The facility, located along the Outer Ring Road in Tirumala, will have a storage capacity of 45 metric tonnes and is being built over 1.86 acres at a cost of Rs 8.13 crore. It is expected to be completed within six months. IOCL has been supplying LPG to TTD for the past 20 years, and a new agreement has now been signed to ensure an uninterrupted supply for the next 30 years.
In addition, IOCL is constructing a bio-gas plant near the Tirumala dumping yard at a cost of Rs 12.05 crore. This plant will process 40 tonnes of wet waste daily to produce 1,000 kg of bio-gas.
