Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on 05 June, 2025 laid the foundation stone for 12 industrial and infrastructure projects worth Rs 28,084 crore, aimed at transforming the Ganjam region into a diversified and sustainable industrial hub. The projects span across Tata SEZ at Gopalpur and the areas of Chatrapur, Buguda, and Barapalli, with the potential to generate employment for 15,455 people.
Speaking on World Environment Day, Majhi said, "These projects will provide jobs and uplift local communities through infrastructure, innovation, and opportunities," reaffirming the government's focus on eco-friendly development and inclusive growth. He added that Rs 1.5 lakh crore worth of projects have been implemented since the 'Utkarsh Odisha-Make in Odisha' conclave in January, creating 90,000 employment opportunitites.
Key investments include Rs 7,200 crore by Ocior Energy, Rs 6,500 crore by Petronet LNG, Rs 4,000 crore each by UPL and HHP Five respectively), and green energy units by Saatvik and World Green Energy. Additional projects in logistics, agro-processing, eco-tourism, and infrastructure round out the investment portfolio.
