Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Nara Lokesh laid the foundation stone for the state’s first 50-MW AI-powered Edge Data Centre and Open Cable Landing Station at Rushikonda, Visakhapatnam on 12 October, 2025.
The Rs 1,500-crore project, led by Sify Infinit Spaces (a subsidiary of Nasdaq-listed Sify Technologies), will be built on 3.6 acres in two phases. The facility aims to enhance India’s digital infrastructure by enabling low-latency AI processing and acting as a strategic submarine cable landing point, connecting India with Southeast Asia countries like Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, and Thailand.
The project is expected to boost innovation, employment, and investment in the state, positioning Visakhapatnam as a key digital gateway on India’s eastern coast. Sify Chairman Raju Vegesna highlighted the commitment to expanding India’s digital economy and AI innovation. This development marks a significant milestone in Andhra Pradesh’s digital growth and technological self-reliance.
