Hardeep Puri, Minister of state (I/C) for Housing and Urban Affairs, laid the foundation stone for a flyover-cum-rail overbridge (ROB) at Narela in New Delhi, on 29 December 2017.

The proposed flyover-cum-ROB will come up on Urban Extension Road-1 (UER-1) and will provide the vital missing link and create connectivity on either side in UER-1.

The Urban Extension Road-1 (UER-1), being constructed as per the provisions made under the Master Plan for Delhi 2021, has already been completed from NH-1 to Bawana, except for the stretch over FCI godowns and the railway line.

The flyover-cum-ROB will have a six lane carriageway, two bus lanes for BRT corridor, provision of footpath and cycle track, and a multi-utility zone for services.

The project will entail an investment of Rs 437.21 crore, which includes Rs 55.59 crore for construction of ROB.

The project is being funded with financial assistance of Rs 349.77 crore from the Urban Development Fund and Rs 87.44 crore contribution from Delhi Development Authority (DDA).

Construction of the ROB is already in progress by the Railways. The project is scheduled for completion in April 2019. Once completed, it will be the widest flyover in Delhi with a width of 51 mtr.

The above project is one of the five projects approved for funding of Rs 643.58 crore through the Urban Development Fund by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
