Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah laid the foundation stone for an international cricket stadium near Vasanthanarasapura Industrial Township in Tumakuru Rural taluk, 90 km from Bengaluru on 02 December, 2024. He handed over the land allotment letter for 41 acres to the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) and urged its officebearers to complete the project as early as possible.
Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) acquired 25 acres of land at P Gollahalli and another 16.3 acres at Sorekunte village, along the Bengaluru-Mumbai NH, for building a stadium.
"Besides the 41 acres, there are nine acres of kharab land, and KSCA has got a 50-acre plot in Tumakuru. The location is part of the Chennai-Bengaluru Economic Corridor with the presence of several international companies. It is just a 75-minute drive from Bengaluru and will ease the load on the only stadium in Bengaluru," the CM informed.
