Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin laid the foundation stone for construction of 1,000-bed multi-speciality hospital on the King Institute of Preventive Medicine and Research campus in Guindy, Chennai.
The hospital will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 230 crore.
On 3 June 2021, the Chief Minister had announced that the state would build a 500-bed hospital at a cost of Rs 250 crore in Guindy. At least four acre of land on the campus was identified by the Health Department for construction of a multi-speciality hospital.
The hospital will have ground plus six floors. Once the project is completed, it will be the second multi-speciality hospital in the city after Tamil Nadu government multi-super speciality hospital at Anna Salai.
