GAIL's 4.5 MW wind based power plant at Sinoi in Kachchh district of Gujarat
is expected to go on-stream by April 2010.
Suzlon has commissioned the wind power plant at Sinoi. It has three wind
turbine generators of 1.5 MW each. As per sources, the power generated from this
project is to be wheeled for GAIL's captive consumption units in Gujarat. It is
expected to meet around 30 per cent of company's power requirements.
Also, the company is mulling to set up two natural gas based power plants in
Usar (Maharashtra) and Bettiah (Bihar) each. The capacity of the projects could
be between 250 MW and 1,000 MW. The plant in Bettiah is likely to be fuelled by
gas supplied through the 876 km Jagdishpur-Haldia natural gas pipeline which
will pass through Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal.
