Tata Power Renewable Energy (TPREL) has successfully commissioned a 198 MW wind energy project in Karur, Tamil Nadu, under the group captive model.
The project, consisting of 55 wind turbines, is designed to generate 31 million units of clean electricity annually, supporting Tata Steel’s decarbonisation efforts. It is expected to offset around 26,350 tonne of CO2 per year, advancing both companies' sustainability goals. A notable achievement of the project was its record-setting timeline, with turbine foundations completed in just 126 days and installation finished in 167 days.
TPREL executed the project through a self-EPC model, managing everything from balance of plant (BOP) to transmission lines, demonstrating its in-house engineering and project management strengths. TPREL’s successful execution reflects its commitment to innovation, sustainability, and efficient energy solutions.
