Suzlon Group, India’s leading wind energy solutions provider, has secured its first 248.85 MW wind order from ArcelorMittal Group through its renewable energy division.
This project, located in Bachau, Gujarat, is part of a larger 550 MW hybrid project in the region, with the wind order dedicated to supplying power for ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel facilities in India. Suzlon will supply 79 S144 wind turbine generators (WTGs), each with a rated capacity of 3.15 MW. This marks Suzlon’s fourth major wind order aimed at decarbonising steel production, contributing to a total of approx. 1,156 MW of green steel capacity in India.
Over the past year, Suzlon has partnered with major steelmakers to support the transition to low-carbon steel manufacturing. As the largest wind player in Gujarat, with 4.5 GW of installed capacity, Suzlon continues to drive the push for sustainable energy solutions in India’s steel industry.
