GE T&D India has been awarded contract from the Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL).
The contract worth Rs 162 crore involves extension of 765 kV AIS substation and setting up a new 400 kV/220 kV gas-insulated substation (GIS) at Bhuj, Gujarat and extend the existing 400 kV GIS at Tirunelveli Substation, Tamil Nadu associated with the Green Corridor Transmission System.
Through this project, the company will help evacuate around 2,500 MW of wind power generated in Gujarat. A Green Energy Power Transmission Corridor is being set up in Western India to evacuate power generated by renewable energy projects.
Post- execution of this project, various wind farm developers will be able to transmit the power generated in the state to the Green Energy Power Transmission Corridor. All key 765 kV and 400 kV AIS, 400 kV GIS equipment and automation systems will be supplied from GE T&D India's manufacturing facilities at Pallavaram, Padappai, Noida and Hosur. The project will be delivered on a turnkey basis.
In the past, the company has executed similar projects for PGCIL to evacuate solar power through the Green Corridor Transmission System. The company installed 400 kV AIS substation to evacuate solar power from 750 MW Ultra Mega Solar Power Park at Rewa, Madhya Pradesh. GE has also installed 765 kV AIS substation to evacuate power from the Bhadla Solar Park in Rajasthan.
