GSPC Gas Company, a subsidiary of Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation, has
earmarked Rs 400 crore for expanding its gas grid by setting up daughter
stations for supply of compressed natural gas (CNG) across Gujarat during 2010.
Under the plan, the company is planning to set up 50 CNG car dispensers, 10
CNG bus dispensers and 100 storage cascades.
GSPC Gas complements Gujarat State Petronet (GSPL), a GSPC group company, by
supplying CNG to the end-user. GSPL is currently engaged in completing the
2,200-km-long gas grid across the state. At every location where GSPL network
ends, the GSPC Gas retail network starts to cater to the natural gas
requirements of all the retail segments such as industrial, commercial,
transportation and residential.
Meanwhile, GSPL has recently submitted EOIs to the Petroleum and Natural Gas
Regulatory Board (PNGRB) to extend its natural gas transmission system to a grid
length of 5,675 km through 12 states via four inter-State pipeline projects
proposed to pass through Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana,
New Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh,
Chhattisgarh and Orissa.
Once the necessary approvals are in place, GSPL is likely to lay, build,
operate and expand the pipelines with estimated investments of nearly Rs 25,000
crore. The four proposed pipelines are: Mehsana-Bhatinda (1,670 km), Bhatinda to
Jammu and Srinagar (740 km), Surat-Paradip (1,680 km) and
Mallavaram-Vijaypur-Bhilwara (1,585 km).
