Galaxy Surfactants, manufacturers and marketers of surfactants and specialty
chemicals for personal and home care industry, plans to commission its
manufacturing plant at Jhagadia in Bharuch district of Gujarat in August 2011.
The company is setting up manufacturing units in Jhagadia and Suez, Egypt.
The installed capacity at Jhagadia will be 77,000 million tpa. The Phase I of
the Suez unit will have an installed capacity of 50,000 million tpa which, too,
will be operational by August 2011. In Phase II at Suez, an additional installed
capacity of 40,000 tpa will be operational by August 2012.
Also, the company is raising up to Rs 201 crore through an initial public
offer. The proceeds of issue are to be utilised in setting up a new plant in
Egypt and expansion in India. The expansion plan is estimated to cost Rs 330
crore. While the company will invest Rs 212 crore to fund the capital
expenditure of its step-down subsidiary GC Egypt, it will invest Rs 70 crore to
set up the new plant at Jhagadia. Besides, it will also invest Rs 60 crore on
capacity expansion at its existing facilities at Taloja and Tarapur in
Maharashtra. The expansion of Taloja and Tarapur plants will be completed in
2013.
